James Hite has over 24 years of geotechnical industry experience. He graduated in with BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, in 2002 and 2013, respectively. He started his journey working for a geotechnical testing firm named Trigon Engineering Consultants, Inc. as a project manager. In 2006, he pivoted over to ECS Carolinas where he focused more on geotechnical explorations, design, and geotechnical construction. He specialized in retained earth structure design, performing detailed analyses for global stability, developing construction plans / specifications, construction observations of deep foundations, and construction materials testing.
In 2007, he joined a newly relocated Geopier office (moved down from Blacksburg VA) that moved to Mooresville, NC. This opportunity presented unique challenges associated with geotechnical design through proprietary ground improvement solutions. James started in the Design center while preparing ground improvement design calculations, construction plans / specifications, and developing processes for the expansion of the Design Center. His role at Geopier Foundation Company morphed several times over the next 15+ years to gain higher leadership positions within the company, moving from a Design Center Engineer, to a Project Engineer, to an Area Manager / Lead Engineer for the Midwest, and then in 2024 to Central Area Director (encompassing Midwest and South areas). Each position change increased responsibility for profit / loss as well as overall geographical technical and commercial responsibility. His continued work at Geopier has allowed the areas he has served to be successful through continued growth, market penetration, and bringing new-to-the-world technologies to be successfully marketed, designed, implemented, and constructed within the industry.
